The HMS Illustrious Association Annual Service of Remembrance took place on the 17th January 2019 at the Church of St. James, Garlickhythe, London which is a Church of England parish church in Vintry ward of the City of London, nicknamed ‘Wren’s lantern’ owing to its profusion of windows.

The Service commenced at 1300. and was conducted by Rev'd Ray Jones RN (who served in HMS Illustrious V and has always been Affectionately known as 'Ray the Pray').

After the Service, we had an excellent lunch at the Vintners Hall which is just a short walk away, where Major Steve Marcham MBE. who is their General Manager, organised the reception along with refreshments.

After Lunch, some of our members went to the HQS Wellington where our historian Rupert, conducted an informative tour of the ship and a debriefing was held in the ships wardroom.

We would like to give thanks to Major Steve Marcham, the Association of British Insurers, The Worshipful Lightmongers and Sir Andrew Parmley for their unwavering support of this event.
